9 April 2026
2 Sisters Food Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Tyas OBE. Chris has joined one of the UK’s leading integrated food businesses as Chair of its Carbon Board, established to drive its Net Zero by 2035 agenda, as well as advising in the critical area of supply chain resilience.
Chris brings a strong pedigree in the global food industry having enjoyed a 40+ year career in a variety of supply chain leadership roles for businesses such as Mars and Nestle. He is currently Chair of GS1UK, a not-for-profit standards organisation delivering traceability and data-sharing infrastructure to help businesses and consumers to make more informed, sustainable and safer choices.
Additionally, Chris was a non-executive board member at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) for several years, and spent two years as co-chair of Defra’s Food Industry Resilience Forum (FIRF), helping to galvanise the sector to work together in navigating the UK food supply chain through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chris, who has also taken up a lead role in the business’ Incident Management Team tasked with maintaining business continuity during the Middle East conflict, commented: “I was immediately engaged by the bold vision of Ranjit Boparan and his team to lead the way in ensuring a strong, sustainable and responsible future of food for the UK and beyond. It is ambitious but certainly achievable, and I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to contribute and provide the benefit of my many years’ experience in the industry, particularly during this challenging period for food security.”
Ranjit Boparan, President of Boparan Holdings Limited (parent company of 2 Sisters Food Group) and Boparan Private Office, said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of Chris, whose leadership in environmental sustainability, together with his depth of experience in UK and global food supply chain resilience, will be of great value as we drive our NextGen agenda - a bold strategy to develop a food system that supports healthy diets and a healthy planet.
“We are making our biggest ever investment in the future of food, developing next generation factories and farms, to provide sustainable, nutritious, affordable, quality food that is kinder to the planet. Chris’ appointment will provide us with even greater specialist expertise as we move into this new era.”
