Celebrating the Second Anniversary of the Coronation Food Project
17 December 2025
His Majesty King Charles III marked the second anniversary of the Coronation Food Project on 19th November 2025 by holding an event to recognise the project’s achievements.
He was accompanied by Baroness Louise Casey of Blackstock, founder of the Coronation Food Project, and Dame Martina Milburn, the project’s chair.
The event was attended by Alliance Food Sourcing, a collaborative group, which includes food redistribution charities The Felix Project and FareShare, food manufacturers and retailers.
Ranjit Singh Boparan, Founder and President of 2 Sisters Food Group, and Kate Stein, 2 Sisters Food Group Quality, Sustainability & Agriculture Director, were delighted to be invited and share the achievements of all those involved.

The Coronation Food Project aims to tackle food waste and reduce hunger. The UK wastes more than 10 million tonnes of food per year, whilst almost one in seven households lives in food insecurity.
Since its launch the Coronation Food Project has:
• Raised £20 million and opened Coronation Food Hubs in Liverpool, Birmingham and South London, in partnership with FareShare and The Felix Project
• Delivered a staggering eleven million meals, made up of rescued surplus food, manufactured food utilising surplus capacity and donated food by food manufacturers and retailers.
• Awarded £907,990 through King Charles III Charitable Fund, to 33 good causes addressing food waste and food insecurity across the UK, helping them to scale their delivery and extend the benefits of their projects.
Ranjit said: “It is an honour to be part of Alliance Food Sourcing supporting the Coronation Food Project, inspired by His Majesty The King.
“We’ve been very proud to take a leading role in manufacturing and donating meals for our partners M&S and Fareshare, so far, we have reached the milestone of donating more than 2 million equivalent meals for those who need it most
“We have committed to donating 5 million equivalent meals by 2028, it’s simply the right thing to do.”
