Government delegation sees first-hand career opportunities at 2 Sisters Scotland

  • Managers on ground to understand career opportunities at facility
  • 170 roles available at the site, ranging across departments

A major manufacturing employer near Perth has opened its doors to a delegation from Scotland DWP so they can see first-hand the career opportunities at the facility.

The 2 Sisters chicken processing facility in Coupar Angus hosted the group of 12 on February 20th, all senior managers within DWP stationed at Perth and Blairgowrie, ranging from operational staff, recruitment coaches and employer advisors.

The visitors were given a tour of the factory, including the portioning department which has doubled capacity since a £5m investment made in May 2018, which was the springboard for the facility recruiting for 250 additional roles.

Since then, there are a further 170 roles available at the site, across all levels and departments, ranging from production operatives to technical management in addition to engineering apprenticeship positions.

The HR and recruitment teams had been working with a number of organisations to fill the vacancies, including local job centres and a through partnership with Skills Development Scotland, and this visit was seen as a great opportunity to see first-hand the new career opportunities.

Nicola Ballantyne, HR manager at Coupar Angus, said: “We were delighted to be asked to host this visit and show key managers the sorts of jobs which are available here and what a solid career it can become for the right, motivated individuals.

“It’s only when you’re actually here can you appreciate how the facility operates and you can talk to current colleagues so they can explore what sorts of individuals are best suited in this manufacturing environment.

“We really feel at the heart of the community in Coupar, and so it is great to be able to  expand and offer local people jobs. There are lots of opportunities for people with the right attitude and talent to progress within the business and development a great career here.”
