The Frozen division produces frozen vegetables, pies and fish and includes the brands Holland’s Pies, McDougalls Pies and Matthew Walker in its portfolio.

The division supplies to all major retailers with Holland’s Pies also selling product via fish and chip shops and sports stadiums including Manchester City FC and Manchester United FC.

The frozen division has sites across the UK and Ireland.

Holland’s Pies

Holland's Pies can trace its history back to 1851 when John Whittaker started a confectionary shop in Haslingden and employed Richard Holland.

In 1869, Richard was married to John's daughter Sarah and they took over the family business re-naming it Holland’s. In 1907 Baxenden was established as the home of Holland's Pies and the current bakery has been their home since 1936.



Matthew Walker

Matthew Walker is based in Derbyshire and is the world’s oldest Christmas pudding maker, producing around 97% of the UK Christmas pudding market.

The Derbyshire factory opened in 1899 and relocated to its present site in Heanor in 1967. Matthew Walker produces over 100 different varieties of Christmas pudding and a variety of sponge puddings. The company supplies all major UK retailers and a number of food service customers.

Matthew Walker also supplies a range of Christmas puddings to international customers including Woolworths in Australia.




IDA Industrial Estate, Portumna, Co Galway, Ireland

The Green Isle Foods site Portumna was formed in 1987 in the west of Ireland. The site is the biggest employer in the area and plays a pivotal role in the local community.

The factory produces frozen pies and pastry products, both own label and branded including Green Isle and Uppercrust.
