(Head of category management, UK Poultry)
I work as part of the commercial team, analysing and responding to market and food trends in order to help our retail partners to develop their categories and grow their business. This might be through the recommendation of changes to range (including new product development), different ways of packaging products, advising on merchandising or strategic recommendations for promotions.
I made the move to 2 Sisters because I wanted a challenge and a bigger opportunity. 2 Sisters was an emerging ‘butterfly’ of a company, I’d call it a blank canvas from which you can create and have more control over your own destiny and I think that’s still the case. I worked previously for 16 years at Kraft foods in sales and category management, followed by several years in the dairy industry in similar roles. I had a great deal of experience but I felt ready to make my own mark.
I also knew that category development at 2 Sisters was supported by our retail partners who understand the need to put consumers at the heart of everything we do. Knowing that 2 Sisters, and the companies it supplies, supports and understand the role category management takes in a food business was a key part of choosing to join.
To those considering a career in the commercial team at 2 Sisters I would say that the reasons I joined are valid today. Many of the team at 2 Sisters come from strong FMCG backgrounds and they know what good looks like and at 2 Sisters they have the freedom to make change for the better.
There is a lot of passion at 2 Sisters and we’re still a relatively new team and it’s an exciting place to be. The ‘team feel’ and the way everyone here pulls together is perhaps an element of working at 2 Sisters that might surprise some people but it’s an element that I have been really heartened by.
In terms of culture, 2 Sisters is a relatively new business and it is an extremely fast paced environment. If you are the type of person who needs to operate in rigid structure of process and long established ways of working, you won’t find that here and it might not be the place for you. However, if you want to work as part of a team to create new ways of working; effectively coming up with your own creative ideas and helping to write 2 Sisters’ story – then you might fit in and I would say come and find out more.
