Sustainable Palm oil
Palm oil is an important raw material for the food industry both because of its low level of saturated fat, and also because it supports critical economic development in emerging markets. However, large scale cultivation of palm plantations can create sustainability issues through deforestation, release of carbon dioxide from peat land, lack of engagement with indigenous people and labour ethics problems.
In line with our Environmental Policy and Sustainability Plan commitment to increase responsible sourcing, 2 Sisters Food Group is a member of the Round Table on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). As such 100% of the bulk palm oil we used in 2013 was RSPO certified and we are committed to continuing this sourcing policy.
